Bertie Ahern, the Irish prime minister received a pay increase of €38,000 a few weeks ago. Not many people are happy about that. To express your disapproval, send an email to FARTOOMUCHBERTIE@gmail.com and you’ll be sent a “Far too much Bertie” sticker. 200,000 stickers have been printed so there are plenty to go around!

Via Indymedia and Kevin Cotter on the Ray D’Arcy Show.
Personally, I’d prefer to see a “Get Mary Harney out!” sticker to get rid of Mary Harney, the Health Minister. Hundreds of more cancer cases in Cork and Galway are to be reviewed. What a shambles.
Update! There’s a lively discussion on boards.ie! Welcome all from there. Please feel free to comment here too.
grrr
personally in favour but wouldnt touch it due to the IndyMedia involvement! … not on my watch:D
Oooh, those would look good plastered all over campus 😀
Oh come on, it is only 38,000 puuulease
should be ashamed of himself, did not earn what he was already being paid, possibly another Charlie or does he take the people of Ireland for fools
Great to have the chance to make some kind of a protest because it seems in Ireland that politicians don’t really care what people think. His (and the others) wage increases are obnoxious. I really feel annoyed about it but it just seems to have passed out of the media. Power to the people. Well done mate.
Hi there,
Kevin here, the FARTOOMUCHBERTIE fellow.
Mail me/us at FARTOOMUCHBERTIE@gmail.com
ChrisD and other interested persons. If you’d like some stickers between now and Saturday 1 December, mail me at the above mail and I can give you lots. I’d love to see LOTS of campuses plastered with them
Am based in Barnacles on Temple Lane, off Dame Street, so maybe we could meet up.
By the way, I was at the protest meeting before the Dail on Wed. calling for the resigntion of Mary Harney and the restoratin of a decent public health service. To me its the same battle. A decent wage for a decent job done as Taoiseach, Minister for Health, industrial worker, etc. etc. etc. a decent pension afterwards and care for those unable to hack it.
BUT NOT POWER as a license to plunder, pillage and betray.
grrrr
seen a few of these in town plastered everywhere, they’re only little things…nuisance to try and clean up i’d imagine…but sure that wouldn’t be Indymedia’s concern would it …
These stickers were featured on The Panel on RTE2 tonight.
The indymedia involvement would also put me off having anything to do with this.
Hi Ben and Stephen,
Firstly Ben,
“Seen a few of these in town, plastered everywhere. They´re only little things.”
Let me see. Which is it? “A few”, “plastered everywhere”… “only little things”.
I don´t want to be pedantic but ….. which is it?!!!
Yes, Ben they´re only little things. 3cm by 3 cm. But little things often count.
Anyway, delighted to know that the stickers made The Panel.
As regards “Indymedia involvement” which upsets you both so much, there was no Indymedia “involvement”. I, the writer, Kevin Cotter, published the articles (two) on Indymedia. I received no contact from anybody purporting to be from Indymedia, and no comments. I imagine that, being independent, un-paid contributors, they did not have the time or resources to respond. Or, indeed, maybe they were not interested. In any event, nobody contacted me saying they had read the article on Indymedia. And I didn´t send any stickers to Indymedia. I did distribute nearly two hundred thousand, by hand-outs on the streets of Dublin and by postage to persons who wrote to me on the FARTOOMUCHBERTIE@gmail.com, announced on the Ray Darcy programme.
By the way, as I said already above, articles were subsequently published in the Irish Times, the Herald A.M., the Evening Herald, Irish Daily Mail, and Irish Examiner.
Another little matter. I have various gmail accounts and have operated them for many years. Two weeks after opening the FARTOOMUCHBERTIE@gmail.com account, which was broadcast in the Ray Darcy show and published on the Irish Daily Mail, I can no longer open it. Since tonight. The message is that the password is not correct.
I would be delighted if anyone could provide me with any possible explanation. Maybe it was Indymedia who did it!
Kevin Cotter
Are you sure someone hasn’t cracked your gmail password? I ask because there’s a few people on the boards.ie thread linked above getting this message after applying for the stickers:
“How are you doing today? I am sorry i didn’t inform you about my traveling to Africa for a program called “Empowering Youth to Fight Racism, HIV/AIDS, Poverty and Lack of Education, the program is taking place in three major countries in Africa which is Ghana , South Africa and Nigeria . It as been a very sad and bad moment for me, the present condition that i found myself is very hard for me to explain.

FarTooMuch Bertie”
wrt the whole indymedia thing, indymedia was the first place I saw this mentioned and it looked like it was coming from them. I don’t trust them, hence their perceived involvement putting me off.
To answer the question , i saw a few of them plastered to a lampost and my description was that they are only little things and that they would be a nuisance to remove by the City Council etc It would be interesting to know how much it will cost to remove said stickers from public property / buses etc in man hours and tax payers dollars, not your concern tho.
Personally i don’t think the stickers, no matter how many you shipped would make an iota of difference.
As per the whole Indymedia thing, i wouldn’t touch anything that was remotely linked / involved / smelled of Indymedia , thats just the way i roll chief!
To finish, im not having a pop, if you feel ya have to make a point , by all means make one but im just a normal joe sayin my tupponce
All the Best and sorry to hear about your gmail account.
Thanks Stephen and Ben,
Hadn´t actually seen the text of the letter.
Pretty whacky!
Contact can be made to this campaign now through http://www.fartoomuchbertie.com
Another concerned punter contacted me and set up the webpage.
I honestly think that the little amount of taxpayers´ money which will be needed to remove these sickers from street funrniture (they come straight off with alcohol, no scraping required) will be more than adequatly compensated by the 1.4 million euro per annum which the wage increases to the 1,600 best paid civil servants and politicians would cost.
Note the INCREASES to these people alone will cost 1.4 million €, that is about 8 or 9 € per annum of every taxpayer´s pocket – just for the increases! (not to pay their existing salaries).
Figures – RTE.
All the best for now.
Kevin Cotter
yeah i hear ya and everyone can produce figures and whine about tax and pay increases this and that but the bottom line is in my book it amounts to common grafitti, just because your not putting them everywhere yourself doesn’t make you less resonponsible.
I would class you as the same as the ‘friends of the earth’ that are slapping notices on SUV’s and jeeps in town…
Regards
