Daredevil Stairwell Fight Scene

I’m catching up on Daredevil on Netflix and this fight scene in series 2, episode 3 blew me away. The slow methodical way Daredevil ploughs through his enemies countering hits, disabling outstretched arms with guns pointed at him and smashing light bulbs that chain is mesmerising.

Frank Kelly’s 12 Days of Christmas

Is it too late for Frank Kelly’s parody of 12 Days of Christmas?

Frank was probably best known as Father Jack on the show Fr. Ted, but I came across him first on an old vinyl record of his stories. He also produced many comedy sketches such as this one:

And he features in this clip of Yu Ming is Ainm Dom:

Watch the full short movie here:

A great talent who died earlier this year.

Mel Blanc: What’s up Doc?

Mel Blanc, the voice of Bugs Bunny and many more characters, is the subject of this great Radiolab podcast. Well worth a listen.

Also see his Wikipedia page. You’ll smile when you hear the story of how he came out of his coma.

Do you remember the show where …

Years ago, I would guess almost 20 years ago, there was a late night show on TV that has stuck in my brain ever since.

This show had a Twilight Zone vibe about it. It was set in a diner/restaurant where time stood still. I’m pretty sure there were multiple episodes but I only remember one.

In the opening scene a waitress is wiping down a table when a shot rings out outside. A man staggers in clutching his chest. He’s been shot and has only moments to live. Time has stopped in the diner so he tells his story and resolves the troubles in his life.

By the end of the show he knows he has to leave, the waitress tells him time will start again. He knows he will die. He walks out the door and the show ends.

Does that ring a bell for anyone? I’ve looked online but it’s hard to find information about an obscure show from so long ago.

Misfits (Of Science)

Before I started watching the British science fiction tv series Misfits I thought it might be a remake of Misfits of Science, a tv show that aired in the mid 80’s. I couldn’t be more wrong. The new show is so much darker and edgier. None of the fluffy woolly brightness of superheroes who always do the right thing. Definitely worth watching!

You can watch the Misfits trailer too but E4 won’t allow me to embed it so you’ll have to go to Youtube. Silly.

I never realised Courteney Cox starred in the Misfits of SCience. ‘Course as a 10 year old I had no idea who she was back then and this was long before Friends.
