It’s Friday, perfect excuse for a lazy post.
Well Holy God! Did ya ever think there’d be another Miley to rival our own Miley Byrne? Apparently Myley Cyrus is a young actress/singer who stars “as Miley Stewart/”Hannah Montana” in the television series Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel.” I’d never hear of her before coming across this post on WordPress.com but what do you know, she’s famous! That explains all those Hannah Montana lunchboxes in the shops.
Meanwhile, the real Miley was a character in the Irish soap Glenroe that enthralled the Irish nation during the 80’s and 90’s. Mick Lally who played the character recently joined TG4’s Ros na Run. Must set that up to record later. He also released a single that flew up the charts to hit the no. 1 spot in Ireland. Check it out on Youtube. There is also an atrocious remix of the Glenroe theme song by Dustin. Oh dear, prepare to have your ears assaulted if you click that link!
A song from the series, The By-Road to Glenroe, performed by Mick Lally, was released as a single in Ireland in 1990, featuring the Jim Lockhart version of the theme tune as its B-side, and reached Number 1 in the Irish singles chart.
I did a double take when I heard about Miley Cyrus, thinking of Miley from Glenroe of course. The same happened when I first heard Fergie on the radio. I thought, “she doesn’t have such a bad voice for a British Royal.”
Well, the Irish economy is tanking and is heading towards recession. Last time things were this bad was in the Eighties so here’s a few memories from that decade. After yesterday’s rather technical post, I need a nice squeaky throw away nostalgic one today.
OK, so what if Charlie Harper sucks? The main character of Two and a Half Men is lazy and selfish, a drunk and womaniser, but he sure is popular!
Hello to all my new Australian visitors!
You’ll already know about the Irish version of Jump Around by Des Bishop if you’re a regular reader here, but if you have missed previous episodes, please watch the last episode of “In The Name Of The Fada”. It’s on RTE 1 tonight at 10:15pm. Sky+ is set to record it here.
We just watched the 5th episode in New York and Boston and totally enjoyed it. That Korean guy in Times Square had a brilliant grasp of Irish even though he’d never been to Ireland. I’m looking forward to the last episode, even if it does make me feel embarrassed that I’ve forgotten so much of the language…
“Ta sé fucking brilliant!”
Who are the top 10 doctors at Sacred Heart:
- Dr. Jan Itor
- Dr. John Dorian
- Dr. Chris Turk
- D Elliot Reid
- Nurse Espinosa
- Dr. Perry Cox
- Dr. Robert Kelso
- Dr. Todd Quinlan
- Dr. Doug Murphy
Feel free to rate your favourite Scrubs doctor at rateyourdoc.org. There’s no way I’d vote for JD, I’d probably vote for Perry or Turk, but Dr. Jan Itor is a strong possibility too!
Do not however follow Todd’s advice and visit his toddtime website! It’s pretty shocking. You have been warned!
Sunday 30th March at 9pm on Sky 2. If you’re a fan that’s all you need to know
Stargate: Ark Of Truth, the feature length episode which followed the last and final series of Stargate SG1 was released on DVD in the US at the start of March according to Barry’s post. I thought I’d have to wait until the region 2 DVD became available but Sky ponied up the dosh and I presume it was shown during the week on Sky 1? I’m still catching up on my regular programming through Sky+ and haven’t hit last week yet so I missed any trailers if there were any.
Sky+ is all set to record Ark Of Truth tomorrow night! I hope it’s better than the drivel they served for the final episode! Here’s a trailer to wet your appetite. I think it just might be a winner.
