News overload again

You go away for a few days and come back to a news aggregator that’s just brimming with posts and articles and teasing you with nuggets of information that you really don’t have time to read. 10 posts there, 20 here, 200 in boingboing. Time to be selective, I really should prune the number of blogs I’ve subscribed to. How many do you read? I have 190 feeds, plus about 10 feeds related to me, wordpress and Automattic. *phew*

It was worth it however. We were in Dingle for an extended weekend. Despite the warnings of a hurricane it only rained on us once on Saturday morning. For the rest of the time we could have been somewhere exotic under blue skies and fluffy white clouds. The number of tourists from the US and Canada was great to see. The price of the US Dollar in Euros certainly makes it expensive to visit here for Americans and the Canadian Dollar isn’t doing too well either. I can’t wait to get cracking on the photos I took. Check out my photoblog, In, over the next week for those!

[…] In other news, I’m now a paid up member of Mallow Photography Club! Despite driving from Kerry on Monday, and feeling the worse for wear, I went to the meeting that night. It was a portraiture night using studio lighting. 3 local girls, only one of whom had any photoshoot experience were our models and did a great job, even with the gaggle of photographers busy snapping away! I got a couple of good shots of the girls, which may end up on my photoblog next week if they’re happy with them. No promises because it’s the first time I’ve done this sort of shoot and it’s more than a little intimidating! […]

Wow – 190! I thought I had it bad at 35! Time to be selective, Donncha.

Dingle, eh? Lucky guy. I haven’t been there for a few years now. Must get some time to head over. As the waiter in Tralee told us before we left for Dingle – “That’s Marlboro Country” 🙂

Of those 190, a good many are photoblogs, and many of them only display thumbnails so flicking through them is quick because I detest thumbnails, and unless they’re really eye-catching I’ll skip over them. If I do prune my list, those will be the first to go.

It’s raining out of the heavens now, we were *very* lucky with the weather at the weekend!

I used to get overwhelmed when I used Bloglines as my newsreader. I switched to Google Reader because Bloglines didn’t handle well for many feeds. It helped me realize I didn’t need to see every post on every feed. Google Reader sorts the unread posts by what it determines as your favorite blogs. It seems to work pretty well.
