When using the Gnome 2 desktop in Red Hat 8 sometimes your keyboard input just disappears. It’s *very* annoying but simple to fix. Simply ALT-TAB to another window and then back. Seems the problem has been around for a while..

Google Search: “Error: missing ) after argument list” – If like me you mostly code a server side scripting language and occasionally delve into Javascript for some on-the-client functionality you’ll no doubt come across this error at some stage.
I’m using form variables with the characters “[” and “]” in them and Javascript has an unnerving tendency to screw up in an obscure way when it sees these characters in object names.
Thankfully I don’t have to contend with this problem much, but each time I do, I’m guaranteed to have forgotten the solution because of the irregularity of my use of Javascript. The solution? Faqts.com has the answer. It’s so simple. *sigh*

In the Beginning was the Command Line – I will read through the whole thing *this* time. I always get distracted and lose my place when I’m reading this. I guess that’s one advantage phsical books have over online text. I can pick them up and read them wherever I am, and pop a scrap of paper in to bookmark where I stopped. (yes, yes, this article could have been chopped into bite-size chunks but that’s not the point!)

On Red Hat 8, apt-get install httpd installs Apache 2.0.40! Goodie! Must play with it!
