Another Install-Sendmail update. Sendmail can now be configured so that local mail is always delivered, but remote mail is queued until it’s manually sent. (Handy for networks on dial up connections.)
I added history too so data is saved between runs of the script.

Ooops, slight bug in Install-Sendmail. Now fixed! Latest version is Install-Sendmail-4.1.tar.gz

Something new for you:
Install-Webserver is a small script that will install Apache, PHP and MySQL. This is the first release, and while rough, it works well.
New version of Install-Sendmail. This version has way too many new features to list here so just download it and try it!
I wonder what’s happened to linux.scene.org. The site displays an empty directory!

Some links taken from an article by JonKatz on /. yesterday. I actually read a Jon Katz article..
The Ozone link above has nothing to do with this site. Just a coincidence that he’s called the same name as my demo group!

Nothing much new as far as content goes. I updated the software pages with some info on Install-Sendmail as well as sites offering free email services.
I also redesigned the site a small bit. Better? I’d like to hear what you think.
Finally, I’m going to do some work on converting TSN to PHP3 from Perl. There seems to be quite a few people interested in it..

Almost a month later I update.
A new version of Install-sendmail is written. I added virtual user/domain support although I haven’t been able to test it myself. Feedback required!
There’s also another Linux demo out. It’s called eft and I don’t have a URL at the moment, but you can get it off scene.org.
It’s a mainly 2d affair with nothing new or ground breaking 🙁
It runs in RedHat 5.2 so not sure about older distributions.

The last time I felt like applauding a demo was after I watched “Incoming Future” by Gods a few weeks back. Now it’s happened again. Gods released another demo. It’s called Toys and Gods attempted to “improve cinematic engagement in the demo scene” with this demo.
It shows too. They use ripped music from films to build a real cinema feel with smart use of cuts and synchronised effects.
Be warned though, this demo requires a 3d card. I wouldn’t run it on less than a P200+3dfx either.. It’s also only available for Windows, but it’s worth booting into Windows just to watch this demo!
Saw this announcement on The PC Demo Fan Club 4.0.
Gods homepage is at WWW.IDF.NET/GODS
Jumpy, the demo I mentioned earlier didn’t work on my RedHat 5.2 system. These are the libraries required to run it:
libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x40007000)
libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x40014000)
libstdc++.so.27 => not found
libg++.so.27 => not found
libc.so.5 => not found
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x400ac000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.1 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00000000)

I heard it first from Denis eccp Fuenzalida that Bomb released a patch for their excellent demo, State of Mind, but The PC Demo Fan Club provided the link to Skals’ page where you can download updated files. Jer got the link from Error 404 which looks like a very nice scene site!
Denis also has a remix of an old Spectrum game, Rex. A Linux version is available although I haven’t tried it at this time.
All the c64 demos from The Party ’98 are now available!
Links should now work for MSIE users. Sorry about that.
Edit in 2023: here’s a video of BomB!

New version of Install-Sendmail for you. This version of the script only works with Sendmail 8.9.2 so upgrade as soon as possible! Links to RPMs of the new Sendmail are included in the INSTALL file.
Does anyone know if the C64 demos from The Party ’98 are on the ‘net somewhere? They’re not linked from the Party web page. Mail me please if you know where! There were some good groups in the competition and I’m dying to try them out!
Forget that, I found ’em at evil64. Just click on the demos link!

Grab install-sendmail and finally get email working on your machine! This script will install a mail server suitable for use on a stand alone machine as well as a network mail server. Be warned though, it won’t work with the latest Sendmail(version 8.9.2), that’ll come later.
Of course, Kernel 2.2.0 came out today! 🙂
