When building vim from source, use this to configure it:
./configure --enable-gui=no
That’ll stop it trying to connect to your local X server.

Update on the status of php accelerator. I had to increase the PHP memory limit to 32MB and decrease the max requests per child in Apache to 500 as we got the “Out of Memory” errors again. I’m keeping an eye on “top”, sorted by memory usage and Apache memory usage is slowly going up.

Steven and Eric battle it out over open source software. I tend to agree with Steven. Open Source isn’t the panacea people thought it was. It’s only one in a number of ways of producing software.

Microsoft Says Linux Doomed, So Linux Will Stop.

Reached at his office, Microsoft’s Miller said he didn’t enjoy delivering the sobering news, and prayed his opponents would be able to find peace. “Revealing that Linux is full of errors, shouldn’t be used, and has no place in the software world was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do,” confessed Miller, who appeared to be holding back tears. “I can only hope that one day, they will see I was doing this to save them years of wasted effort.”
