SourceForge.net: zoe-general – how to make Zoe run faster.
I already found 2 bugs, one serious, the other annoying.
The annoying bug: Zoe doesn’t recognise mult-part emails. There’s an open bug for this problem.
The serious bug: When sending mail through Zoe everything is fine as long as you’re sending to one person only. I CCed lots of people (on the Holy Shmoly list) and the emails were sent to each person 3 times! I added a new identity to Kmail that sends directly through our mail server and that seems to have solved that problem, sort of.

Besides those bugs, I have several accounts feeding Zoe at work and can’t wait to see what it’s stored by tomorrow morning!

I managed to get Zoe working. on my Red Hat Linux box. It’s sucking in mail (I setup another account and procmail forwards the mail..), and I’m sending mail through it. The screenshot shows a few mails from the ILUG mailing list.
For those who haven’t used Zoe yet, all those hyperlinks dig down into the information stored in Zoe. Clicking on one of the threads displays that thread, clicking on the contributors lists his emails. Very nice!

How to get Zoe working on a Linux system.

  1. Download the latest j2se from sun.com.
  2. Extract the .bin or rpm.
  3. Set the classpath. I have my installation in /usr/local/lib/, so: export CLASSPATH=.:/usr/local/jre/lib
  4. Go into the directory where Zoe is, run it with /usr/local/jre/bin/java -jar Zoe.jar

Figure out how to get Zoe working now..
